Module 1: Learning Strategies
In this course, participants will gain a basic understanding of how children learn and remember information. They will learn how to help students develop problem-solving skills. Participants will learn strategies for identifying and assessing learning styles. They will explore strategies used in differentiating learning.
Module 2: Transition Planning
In this course, participants will study planning and mediating transitions for children and children with exceptionalities. They will study models for effective transition planning and how to develop a transition plan. Participants will explore strategies and practices educators can use to help their students.
Module 3: Classroom Skills
In this course, participants will be introduced to Literacy, English, Mathematics and other subject areas mostly in the Ontario Curriculum. They will study strategies and skills that can assist students’ development of curriculum expectations. Participants will explore assessment for/as and of learning and the role of educational technology.
Module 4: Emotional Resilience
In this course, participants will explore core principles and strategies that build emotional resilience including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation and empathy They will learn about emotional intelligence and positive relationships. Participants will review resilience practices that will benefit them and their students such as S.T.O.P and C.O.A.L techniques.
Module 5: Carreer Planning
In this course, participants will learn skills that will lead them to success in education. They will learn how to assess their skills and plan their career in an educational setting. They will learn about the required documents and how to conduct themselves in a job interview. Participants will explore and learn to navigate the job market.
